Volunteer assignment – Video editor for 20th anniversary

We are looking for a volunteer video editor to develop a short video highlighting the work of indigo foundation grassroots partners in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. This is a time limited assignment that provides an opportunity to contribute to the work of a small, innovative and independent community development organisation and to produce a video to be shared widely as part of indigo foundation’s 20th anniversary fundraising events.

If you have experience in video production or editing, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

indigo foundation is celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. As part of this we want to produce a short video honouring and showcasing the work of our community partners and thanking our supporters and volunteers in Australia. The Video Editor will be responsible for producing a short video that will be shared with supporters and featured at our upcoming ‘flavours of indigo’ at-home events.

Content for the video will be drawn from images and videos on file, short videos from our community partners overseas (shot primarily on smartphones) and short clips from our team in Australia. The role of the Video Editor will be to compile this material into a 2 – 3 minute video.

Key tasks of the volunteer include:

  • Working with our team to devise the format and story of the video
  • Cutting and rearranging video clips and images
  • Captioning clips if needed, with translation support from other indigo foundation volunteers
  • Selecting appropriate music
  • Creating opening titles and section titles where needed
  • Finalising the video for uploading to YouTube

The video editor will start ASAP.

About you

We are looking for a volunteer with previous experience in video production and/or editing, ideally in a not-for-profit or social change context. You will require access to a computer with video editing software. This is a great role for an experienced communication professional keen to share their skills pro bono with a great community organisation or a student or early professional looking for a project to demonstrate their skills.

indigo foundation is a virtual organisation with fantastic team of staff and volunteers throughout Australia, with hubs in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. You will work from home and the role can be based anywhere in Australia.

About indigo foundation

indigo foundation is an innovative and independent community development organisation based in Australia. For 20 years, we have partnered with grassroots organisations in marginalised communities around the world. We currently partner with 18 local organisations across eight countries.

We support local community partners to empower women and girls, improve education and health outcomes, secure better livelihoods for families and defend their human rights. We believe powerful and positive change is achieved through community control over decision-making, honest communication between communities and ourselves and building strong community organisations. We know from the evidence that community-led development works to transform lives and build more resilient communities. Our approach to partnership is built on respect, mutual learning and accepting that progress and setbacks are a normal part of community development.

We are a proudly nimble and creative organisation, with committed volunteers and supporters across Australia.

indigo foundation is a child-safe organisation. We require all staff and volunteers to sign our Code of Conduct for Working with Children and Young People.
