This week we are celebrating the involvement of two amazing women in the life of indigo – Jemma Bailey our outgoing Executive Director (left) and Stav Zotalis, our newly appointed Executive Director (right).
After nine years leading indigo in the role, Jemma is stepping down to pursue new opportunities. Holding fast to indigo’s principles and approach to community-led development, Jemma has steered indigo through an incredibly important and successful phase of consolidation, learning and growth. She is leaving indigo in great shape to further expand our impact with community partners, grow our valued supporter base and build our networks and influence in Australia.
Throughout her time with indigo Jemma has been an outstanding leader and an inspiration to everyone she has engaged with – our supporters, volunteers, staff, local partners and others working in the international development and human rights space. We will miss Jemma’s intelligence, calmness and leadership and wish her well in the amazing adventures we know lie ahead for her. We are delighted that Jemma is keen to stay involved with indigo in some capacity, after a well-deserved break.
It is our great pleasure to introduce our new Executive Director Stav Zotalis. Stav brings a wealth of experience in the international development sector having held leadership positions with ActionAid and CARE in the Asia region and having worked for AusAID in the past.
Stav was drawn to indigo and this leadership position because she shares our guiding principles and believes in our approach to respectful partnerships and community-led development. We feel incredibly excited about Stav being the right person to lead the next stage of indigo’s development as an innovative, effective and increasingly sustainable international community development organisation.
Stav and Jemma are currently in the handover period and in coming months we will be aiming to introduce Stav to our local partners, our valued volunteers and our wonderful supporters and donors.
