indigo foundation is an innovative, independent community development organisation based in Australia. We commit ourselves to long-term respectful partnerships with local community-based organisations.
For almost 20 years, we have supported grassroots organisations in some of the most marginalised communities around the world to define and implement their development goals – be that getting children into school and training teachers, empowering girls and women or supporting cooperative garden initiatives to improve food security. Over time we have built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional, cost-effective and transformative results.
Our programs are guided by the principles of community ownership, sustainability, transparency and equity. We listen to the needs of the community and work with them to develop programs in education, health and capacity building. Our aim is to empower communities to access resources, and have control over decisions that determine their basic needs and human rights.
We currently support 11 projects across seven countries -Afghanistan, India, Indonesia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Namibia. These projects are driven by the communities we work with and focus on improving education and health outcomes, empowering girls and women and strengthening local community organisations.
We operate through a virtual office, keeping administrative costs to a minimum. We are independent of government funding and value transparency, providing accurate information on our finances, achievements and challenges.
